Internal audits are a key component of any food safety and quality management system, including all GFSI recognized standards (e.g., SQF and BRC, IFS, FSSC 22000) and other food safety management systems. Both GFSI recognized schemes and regulatory agencies require companies to verify the effective implementation of their food safety management systems and ensure compliance with applicable food safety standards.
We provide independent internal audits (SQF internal audits, BRC internal audits, FSSC 22000 Internal audit) to help your facility meet global food safety standard requirements, and promote continuous improvement. Our internal audit services include the following activities:
1. Internal Audit Program Development
- Determine scope and frequency of internal audits in relation to the risks of your process
- Schedule and conduct internal audits to verify the effectiveness of your food safety and quality system, including facility and equipment inspections, prerequisite programs and HACCP plans
2. SQF Internal Audit / BRC Internal Audit
- Conduct pre-assessment audits (pre-audits, mock audits or gap assessments) to assist in identifying gaps in your existing food safety management system against the SQF Code or BRC Global Standards requirements
- Conduct a BRC internal audit or SQF internal audit to assist with continuous improvement of your food safety management system and to support your SQF or BRC certification/re-certification
- Perform inspections to ensure that the factory environment and processing equipment are maintained in a sanitary condition for food production
3. Corrective Action Communication and Follow-up
- Prepare and communicate non-conformities including objective evidence to the personnel responsible
- Follow up with corrective actions of deficiencies identified during the internal audits
